Disable norton in the system tray when you run superantispyware. Norton is crap.

No you dont have to remove hijack this. avg7.5 is a good free anti virus program can be got here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/ also anti vir personal edition classic http://www.free-av.com/ . To remove norton you will need to download the norton removal tool http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 also avast is quite a good free one try them all and see which one you like http://www.avast.com/

well, sometimes my comp just freezes up. but most times its just realy seems slow. and every once in a while its like nothing could slow it down. as an example. after conecting to the internet, my windows explorer may take up to a minuet to load. and a one min vid can take as long as 5 min to download. not only that but when i close a program lets say internet explorer, it can take up to a min for it to close as well. I havent had it freeze up on me in a while, and I have done just about everything I can think of short of rewriting my hardrive. I did have a problem with the cooling fan making noises and not running at full speed, but I cleaned it as best I could and that seemed to do the trick. I also am using a damn aircard. could that be part of the problem? I live in rural idaho,Montana, wyoming. and its the aircard or search for wifi. [ not very available here]
On a side note I have heard mixed reviews about Norton. mine expires in a few months, what would be your [everyone] choice to replace it with.

Thanks again for your time. do I need to remove "Hijack this"?

Lets dig deeper

Download Superantispyware (SAS) free home version

http://www.superantispyware.com/supe...freevspro.html

Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it.
It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click Yes.
Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
Click the Scanning Control tab.
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
o Close browsers before scanning
o Scan for tracking cookies
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
o Please leave the others as they were.
o Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.
On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK.
Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next.
It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.
To retrieve the removal information for me please do the following:
o After reboot, double-click the SUPERAntispyware icon on your desktop.
o Click Preferences. Click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
o Please highlight everything in the notepad, then right-click and choose copy.
Click close and close again to exit the program.
Please paste that information here for me regardless of what it finds with a new HijackThis log.

This will take some time!!!!!!!!

I assume you meant Adware not the program AdAware

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
