My old comp died, so i installed it in another comp. I can view everything on the drive exept for the files in E:\Documents and Settings\Owner. If i click anything in there i get a message that says that it is not accessible and that access is denied. I set permissions so everyone can access the owner folder and subfolders and files, but if i go to the security tab on a subfolder and try to set them it says "You do not have permission to view or edit the current permission settings for desktop(the subfolder i clicked on), but you can take ownershp or change auditing settings.". Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Tx

I had the same issue as you a short time ago. Follow the directions closely in the supplied link. And you must carefully choose the 'owner' of the folder that you want to reclaim. There is a text box of listed 'owners' of the folder under the security > advanced tab. Be sure to choose the owner, which of course is you, that currently logged on your sys drive.
