Hi,

I'm trying to make a document that has its first line as the footer.

I can make a REF statement to do that

The hard part is that it has to autoupdate.

I've already gone through some of the VBA scripts and I know about the update method but I cant find a trigger to run the macro that updates them when it changes automatically.

I am looking into triggers too that would run the macro on key enter or likewise.

Any assistance is highly appreciated

Cheers

WHEN do you need it to update? It'll update automatically upon print preview or print.

So..you want to enter the first line of the document and it automatically becomes the footer text, too?

You say you understand the updating, yet you also refer to VBA. Why? See:

Yes. The only way that I know of to accomplish that properly doesn't require a macro. It simply requires the "Calculate on Exit" checked in the form field of the originating reference (assuming you've used the method described in the first link I gave you above to accomplish the cross reference). Attached is my example. (It would seem that you must have another form field to tab to so that it exits this one properly. When I tested this method using only the one form field, and I typed the name and hit tab, it didn't update the field.)

I've attached the file that the question was asked in. Im an expert for the IT/Software Applications of the Iranian teams attending the 2007 competitions and I'm trying to go through all the items provided in the test project.

If you look at the 5th page of the pdf I've attached here. It asks for an autoupdate of the footer.

What I've done right now is to run a vba script that checks the document every second and updates the footer. It isnt the best of solutions but it does the job. I can have that attached if needed as well.

Any advise is highly appreciated.

BTW: I did go to supportspace but I wasnt successfull at getting anywhere with it.
