I believe others have such problems before. Search the forum... Saw long list of log... Dunno wat's going.

I just downloaded a zip file which I tot was a photo that my brother sent me.
When I couldnt open the file, I realise it was a virus. I went to google and try to find ways to remove. Went to this website "http://billys-recondite-ramblings.blogspot.com/2007/04/msn-photo-album-virus.html" to download the file and try to remove the virus.

I ran a virus scan using trend micro Housecall. No virus was detected. Later on I ran the scan again. It detected the file as a virus. So i deleted the file and uninstall my msn.

I ran the scan again. No virus detected. I install the msn again.
After chatting awhile, my msg box start popping out. I tot the virus was gone.

What shld I do???

Cont'd fr above,

For my bro comp, I uninstalled the msn messenger & installed the Norton Internet security, everything was updated online. Except for the worms file, seems to have problem updating it, keep showing error message.

After installation and running a full scan in Windows and Safe Mode, it stated that all the above viruses were fully resolved. But after that, while using the comp, the norton security keeps popping out, saying that Dialer.Trafficjam is been detected and blocked, the comp is secured. It keeps coming on. I've got no idea what to do. I search the web and looked for ways to remove the virus, tried to delete values from registry but I couldn't find any file. Instructions as below:

4. To delete the value from the registry
Click Start > Run.
Type regedit
Click OK.

Note: If the registry editor fails to open the threat may have modified the registry to prevent access to the registry editor. Security Response has developed a tool to resolve this problem. Download and run this tool, and then continue with the removal.

Navigate to and delete the following subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Trafficjam

Exit the Registry Editor.

But thinking that mayb norton manage to block the msn virus. I tried to reinstall the msn messenger. But the virus strike again! It sent mass msg to all the contacts again. But my younger bro (using his company's laptop), told me he received the msg, 'See my horny pictures ' but there was no file that was sent together.
Gosh... giving me a big headache.
I should run the HJT for you, right??

Thanx.....

Thanks Cheeseball81 for your reply!

Anyway, was really anxious. I bought the latest norton internet security. Updated and did a full system scan on Windows and also again on Safe mode, turning off the system restore.. It detected the W32.Spybot.worm and stated that the virus has been fully resolved. So does it mean that everythg is ok?? Will the virus reinfect the comp??

For my brother's comp, I just installled the norton internet security as well.
Apparently it detected more virus than the other comp. W32.Scrimge!gen was detected (which is the msn virus) as 3 separate items, Dialer Trafficjam was detected as 5 items. Also the Trojan anserin and the W32.spybot.worm.
How did so many viruses got into the comp?? Was it all due to the msn messenger virus??

Do you think it is necessary for me to run HJT setup again for both comp??

Please advise!

Thank you!!

Download the Trial version of Superantispyware Pro (SAS):
http://www.superantispyware.com/supe....html?rid=3132

Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it.
It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click Yes.
Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
Click the Scanning Control tab.
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
o Close browsers before scanning
o Scan for tracking cookies
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
o Please leave the others unchecked.
o Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.
On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK.
Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next.
It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.
To retrieve the removal information for me please do the following:
o After reboot, double-click the SUPERAntispyware icon on your desktop.
o Click Preferences. Click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
o Please highlight everything in the notepad, then right-click and choose copy.
Click close and close again to exit the program.
Please paste that information here for me with a new Hijack This log.
