I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+
Asus M2V Mobo

2/3 of the time when I return to my computer and move the keyboard/mouse to wake up, Vista will resume to the login screen but both my mouse and keyboard will not work. Both devices will have no power and there is no way to wake them up besides restarting the computer! Has anybody else experienced this problem or know of a possible remedy? I would be grateful for any help. Thanks for reading!

I have a medion laptop running xp home and it has the same problem returning from hibernation. Touchpad works but my external mouse (not usb) does not work. My keyboard does not work either. It hasn't always been like this. The only thing that I have changed lately are some account settings and login procedures.

In my device manager I cannot find an option for these devices to be allowed to be turned off to save energy.

Certainly a driver issue, where the mobo driver is dying in its sleep.

Sleep and Hibernate are very finnicky as to driver compatibility with desktop hardware (the modes were primarily designed with compliant laptop hardware in mind apparently)

Add to the mix your 64 bit OS, and problems are guaranteed.

But if both devices are USB, then look at motherboard chipset drivers if the above is unsuccessful ...

Partcularly since it does not happen everytime.
