I have been sent 2 e-mails in PowerPoint. Sender also tried to send programming to read them. Nothing worked and he does not know how to help me or to change them to something my computer can handle before he sends them. Did search here for PowerPoint and found nothing which seemed to fit my situation. Downloads offered by Microsoft did not seem to fit either. Don't know which of the 4 I would need. Can you help equip me to receive PowerPoint e-mails? Have seen PowerPoint used for computer generated video presentations. Know nothing else about it. Thanks for your help.

Hi Bus.

Your friend (or whoever) needs to open the Powerpoint file and do what is called a "Pack and Go". Tell them to check the Powerpoint help files on how to do this. Tell them they'll need to put these files in their own directory on C: drive. When they send the folders to you, you will need to "save-as" the files to your C: drive and then double-click the pngsetup.exe file.

From the help files...Powerpoint 2000.

Pack up a presentation for use on another computer
Open the presentation you want to pack.
On the File menu, click Pack and Go.
Follow the instructions in the Pack and Go Wizard.
If prompted, insert another disk.

Notes
If you pack a Web presentation, it is unpacked as a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation rather than a Web presentation.
The Pack and Go Wizard cannot include TrueType fonts that have built-in copyright restrictions. Before you distribute your presentation, you might want to unpack it and view the presentation to make sure all the fonts you use are available.

Unpack a presentation to run on another computer
Before you can do this procedure, you must have used the Pack and Go Wizard to pack your presentation.
Insert the disk or connect to the network location you packed the presentation to.
In Windows Explorer, go to the location of the packed presentation, and then double-click Pngsetup.
Enter the destination you want to copy the presentation to.
Tip To run the slide show later, locate the presentation in the folder you unpacked it to, right-click the presentation and then click Show on the shortcut menu. If the Show command is not available, neither Microsoft PowerPoint nor the PowerPoint Viewer is installed on this computer. Pack your presentation again and include the Viewer.
