Good evening all.

I have created a powerpoint slide show with seven slides currently. I also have a jpeg file (a copy of a letter written to me and scanned) which I would like to attach to a slide but do not want the jpeg image opened.

Ideally I just want the first slide to include a jpeg icon somewhere on the screen which will open up only when the viewer clicks on the jpec icon otherwise they just carry on viewing slide no. 2, 3 etc !

I'm sure it can be done but when I try to insert the jpeg onto the slide it automatically opens the content of the jpeg file and pastes the whole thing onto the slide which is not what I want.

Does anyone have a suggestion please ?

It's slightly involved but entirely 'doable'..... instead of using 'insert picture' to get ur image into the slide; use 'insert object' instead. When you select the .jpg file this time, you will notice a tick box that says 'insert as icon'. tick that box and click ok.

This will insert the .jpg as an icon, but it won't actually do anything until you right-click on the icon, and select 'action settings'.

In action settings on the 'mouse-click' tab, pull down the Object Action menu and select 'Open'. You can do this on the 'Mouse-over' tab as well if you want, so the user wouldn't even need to click, just hover over. This then opens the graphic, but in whatever application the pc is set to open up .jpg files (usually IE6), but if you then close down that app after viewing the image you're back in the screenshow.

Personally I'd go with Atech's suggestion of just having the image on a (hidden) slide at the end of the presenation and creating an action button to 'go to' that slide when required. You would need another action button on that slide though to take you back where you were before in order to continue the screenshow.

You could create a seperate slide which is not in the slideshow loop (I beleive you can remove slides from this in options somewhere - not exactly sure where though - sorry) and then just link a button to open this slide.
