I've been asked by someone at work to help with a powerpoint presentation for her brother's funeral tomorrow! We want to add music from a CD to the presentation. I've gone through all of the help files I can and think I'm doing it right but it won't work.

I go to add music from a CD, click on loop, and select track 1. I then need to set the time it plays and I can't change it from 00:00 no matter what I do. It simply won't play. The CD is in the drive.

HELP!!

try ripping the song to the harddrive that away it isnt linked to the cdrom which is a "removable" sorce.

you could also be seeing the time on the track which would be all 0's untill you press play then would count the time of the track you might check the options or preferenses on your music files in power point.

regardless i do suggest ripping the song so you dont have accadental cd skiping or if all else fails hitting play on a cd player with repeat 1 while the power point is playing.

Thanks all for your help. I did get it done last night. Now I just hope it plays well today. Not one I want to screw up. In any case, I think what I found is that the idea of playing from a CD is not possible in powerpoint even though they have instructions to walk you through it. I probably talked to 25 people yesterday and no one had ever mabe that feature work. I ended up ripping the song and adding it as a file to the presentation and it worked fine.

thanks again!!

Your welcome, I'm glad it worked.

Also, i just realized that you could have played the CD normally (on repeat) from Windows Media Player, and then started the PowerPoint presentation. Since you would still hear the music, it would be like it was part of the presentation too :-D

a quick fix, no doubt.
