I need to purchase SQL server that will run on Windows XP. I have tried to get it locally to no avail and I have also tried Microsoft's website, but became very frustrated. I can talk to a Microsoft rep, but it will cost me $245!

Does the SQL server 2000 product come in a XP version

I suggest you to have a try with MySql : it's free and it works fine.
I have installed it on a server in my company including databases with a global amount of 150 millions records and there are around 1500 users a day who connect to MySql to look for data : no problem !
