Hello,

I'm new to SQL Server and have run into a snag when trying to get XML data retrieval working. When I go to configure IIS, so I can establish my virtual names and whatnot, I have no servers listed. When I click 'connect' and try to connect to a server, it says "An error occured connecting to '.....' . This server does not exist or is not available." I have connected to those vary same servers using Enterprise Manager.

This has been the case for both a local and remote server....I can't get either running. Have I perhaps missed a step or forgotten to install a component? Microsoft's documentation was completely unhelpful and said that I had to 'expand' the listed servers once I had opened the Config IIS utility. No other instructions are listed.

Thanks again for any help!

Is your web site defined under the server name? You have to create a web site, define any directories, start pages, IP addresses, port, and any MIME mappings of ISAPI filters.

SQL server has nothing to do with IIS and connecting to a SQL dataabse is done through your XML application and from ODBC or other connection to SQL you may need.
