Hi I have sspMydoom on our business computer. We have a b&b for scrapbookers and they use the computer all the time. Besides the sspMydoom it also has hijacked our I.Explorer page and puts lines under words on pages we view. I was trying to figure out what I should follow from what was posted to someone else but in the middle it changed direction.

Here are my questions.
1. Is this something we have to get off our computer "right now"? Like if the scrapbookers use I.E. and our computer is it giving information from our computer to whoever put it on our computer? We have split the hard drive and I use part of it for our business and do on line ordering for our business supplies. We have a retreat coming tomorrow and are wondering if they can use the computer safely or not?

2. How do we actually get it fixed? We have I.Explorer 6.0 and Windows XP Pro 2002 Service pack 1. We have run Spybot and Adaware but its still there. And, terrible pictures come up in our face as well. Where is there info to actually follow the steps to get it off?

I have never posted on any tech support forum before so if I put this in the wrong place or anything, please just chalk it up to my grandmother ignorance. I have been around computers for a long time, I learned with dos! But, I am not advanced in my understanding, probably intermediate of sort. I have changed system files to fix something and can do that now but I need very explicite instructions. I appreciate any help I can get!!! Thanks

I will answer for the moderators: Start a new post with your problem, this is a Windows 2000 Professional string that you have posted onto, it is quite different than XP Pro. I don't think it will actually hurt your PC, just annoying and slows everything down, but I don't know long term effects from this bug.
The writers of these viruses should be found and thrown in prison for 10 years.

Hi and welcome to PCOH,

I have split your post off into your own thread. It's not a good idea to tack onto an existing thread as it gets confusing for those helping and you also may get overlooked.

Please do this. Click here: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe
to download Hijack This.

Its very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

If you have anything unchecked in msconfig go to run start type msconfig and put a check beside every entry so that it all starts up.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click Scan. When the scan is finished, the scan button will change to Save Log. Click on Save Log and then save it to NotePad. Click on Edit Select all copy and then paste into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed.
