My daughters laptop needs a new hard drive, I do not have a program or recovery disk. I have 2 identical laptops and both of my laptops were purchases used with no disks but both are running windows 2000 professional. Is there any way to change out her hard drive without losing the operating system. Or since I am going to change the hard drive, what are my best options for an operating system?

Dell Latitude CPx J 650gt

Thanks,
Susan

Probably go with W2K again, if you want an inexpensive place to buy an OEM Copy go here!!http://www.edirectsoftware.com/Win-2000Pro.html

W2K gives you all the stability you need and be fairly quick on a P3 650 with 256 Megs of Ram, XP might be a little sluggish on that Laptop !!!
