I am getting
corrupt file message for winnt\system32
\config\system.SAVstartup option, press F8...

Will not allow me to get into startup or emergency start
options such as Safe Mode, etc. getting
message "...insert windows 2000 cd-rom or boot disk and
select "r" at first screen to try and repair..."
Win2000 disk does not work at all upon startup of system
(cd in the drive, but doing nothing). system takes me
back to the same screen (where you can hit the F8
key ...but not working...as mentioned above).

This all started originally I tried to uninstall symantec antivirus 8.0 corp edition..... froze on the uninstall...... did a restart......

Plus side im able to see everything in MiniXT boot disk strange thing is ive tried repairing still wont budge anyideas?

Have you tried the Recovery Console?

See: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...t/safemode.asp

Quite often when you get corruption in a file / reg, it can be caused by failing hardware.

Have you checked your hd with the mfg's diagnostic for testing drives?

Have you tested your memory with a memory tester?

Is the system overclocked at all?

yes I generally have tried repair fast mode as well as Manual.....

I guess the last option is to go to comand console..

But I dont know what option or commands to be using since using a bart pe ive tried replacing most of the files......

problem is this SAV.... Locating and eliminating whatever is locking on to the OS...

When I get home I will try these commands

Set allowremovablemedia = True
Set NocopyPrompt = True
Fixboot c:
FixMbr
Chkdsk c:
attrib -r c:\ntldr
attrib -r c:\ntdetect.com
copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\ntldr
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ntdetect.com
attrib +r c:\ntldr
attrib +r c:\ntdetect.com
