Please Help!
I'm trying to add a new computer into our small office LAN using Windows 2000 server. From the new computer, I can ping the server, but the server can't ping the new computer. I have other computers/server able to view each other & share files by using the NetBEUI Protocol. I guess my question is, "How do I get the server to recognize the ip address for the new computer and let me log on as an existing user?" I'd appreciate any advice.

Another thing, I tried logging in on the new machine as an existing user on our LAN, and it was almost like I was a temp user or guest. I had to re-map network drives every time, but I could see the server files. I just want to be able to log in and have the drives mapped automatically.

NetBEUI is not a routable protocol. You need TCP/IP as your network protocol and all computers have to be part of the same IP network and subnet..

How do I make this new machine part of the same ip network and subnet, so that the server recognizes it? The NetBEUI protocol, was the only way I could get the machines to see each other.
