It says NEC on it I think it is a little bit of everything, Here's what I just did, Probably stupid but I had to try something, I ran the windows 2000 Pro cd I had as an upgrade cause it said it would n't erase the file on the computer, which it didn't, but I still can't get a dial up going, He had MISNET on there do you no what exactly that is? That was his dial up, it took that off but couldn't use it here anyway, however if I go to the add/remove programs and go into windows components shouldn't it have internet explorer and outlook express in there? it's not does that mean it is not on there or what?

Do you have the original installation disk for the machine? If you do, I would take the easy way out.

Save everything that needs to be saved to an external hard drive or other removable media.

Go to the drive manufacturers website and download their low level format (zero fill) utility, zero fill the drive and do a complete new, clean installation.

It sounds like you have a bunch of contaminated files, and you may chase this problem for quite awhile.

I've been using 2kPro since it was released and it can be a little tempermental at times. I wipe my drive and do a fresh install about every 18-24 months.

If you have the original installation disk, you could have wiped and reinstalled in less time than you have already expended in chasing this problem.

I just went to c drive then program files then found Internet explorer and tried the install and it says it is installing internet explorer and outlook express, maybe it needed to be reinstalled? does that sound feasible?

You put an HJT log into another forum. Which forum? I would like to see it.

Do you know anything about HJT Logs? I put one up in another forum and it has 5 of the o15s in it that protocols are in a zone and should be in another and some other things not where they are suppose to be, I tried to delelete them form there but the HJT Program won't fix them I think that could also be some of the problem but I don't know how to fix them and can't get anyone to look at it, can you tell?

I might have to do that, I can't even get anyone to look at my HJT Log here. Someone looked at it on another forum and told me what to do but it didn't work, I posted what I did here with the log but I don't know if anyone will look or not. Hope so
