I am running Windows 2000 on another home computer and cannot connect to the internet or email. The modem shows a connection, and I have no trouble with my other computer (the one I am on now) which has XP. I get the correct PING but the browsers just do not open (can there be some kind of firewall that is hidden? The computer was once configured for use in my office network. Now it is not on a network. Any suggestions? (Other than installing XP! LOL) Thanks.

IE?

Internet Options/Connections - click the "Lan settings" button at the bottom. Make sure "Proxy Server" is not checked in.
