I am looking to create a website in Dreamweaver 04, using a layer, which is the outline for my site, then nested layers, with all the site content, so I have precise control over how it all looks. I don't want to use tables, because I want to use a number of different GFX that background image doesn't quite suffice.

Anyway, when I draw the first layer, I cannot for the life of me work out, (or find out) how to make a central alignment for the layer.

If anyone could avise me of how this is possible, or if it isn't, I would be most grateful.

Layers are always area (w x h) specific, you can center align. That's why best way is create a layout through layers and convert into tables, so that your site have more flexibility.
