Hey.  Huh
i try to make my hp4200C scanner work under win 2000, but it wont, *sigh*. Can anyone help please? smiley

Win 2k just installed, clean installation, works perfectly.

Scanner software accompanying the scanner is only for win 98, so I went to hps web page and downloaded a driver and program file, sj655en.exe - huge thing, 34,7MB.

The .exe is self-expanding and instaled the software ... afterwards i plugged in the scanner, and according to the hardware management tab in my computer, the scanner is there n recognized n works.

However, when I start the scanning software, the hp splash screen shows but then absolutely nothing happens. n.o.t.h.i.n.g.

Likewise when i try scanning from within other programs - the scanner is on the pick list, but when i ask for scans, nothing happens, literally.

Hm? I'd be very happy if anyone could help please?

Yours
Kim

HP's products are almost always problematic.  Try to uninstall the device and then re-install it - use a forced uninstaller if they have released one for this product.

Also, try searching their support base for this issue - i ran a quick search and found these:
