Information on how to install Win98 can be found at:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/install/win9x_install.htm

Before you start, make sure you have all the drivers necessary for any hardware that are not included with the operating system.

After you do a clean install of Windows 98SE on that new hard drive, you'll need to install the drivers for the:

Display adapter/video card

Sound device/sound card

Modem (if you're using 56K dialup)

Network adapter/network card (If you using high-speed DSL or cable)

That's why you need to know what hardware is in that computer before you start.

Okay, I looked under the Device manager and found all my hardware. Okay so, should I just get the drivers for the devices that Flavallee stated in his above post >

Or am I supposed to get all the drivers for ALL devices on my computer?

Thanks. Okay, where in my computer can I look to see the hardware? From there I can find out the drivers I'll need. I already have the CD for the Internet. So the driver for that is already taken care of.

If you're going to be this brief and vague in your comments, it's going to take awhile and be more difficult to help you. You need to be more detailed and need to fully answer the questions that you're asked.

Since you classify yourself as a "Beginner", replacing a hard drive is something that you're likely not going to do yourself, whether you have a desktop or a laptop. A qualified computer shop technician can install a new hard drive and reinstall the Windows operating system in a couple of hours.

Okay guys, Ive been gone for a bit, but Im back. I am the one who started this thread so I am coming back to it. I got my hard drive today and I am gonna put it in Friday since I will have the whole day to myself. I am going to install windows 98 se, just the same as I did for my last hard drive. I have the CD and the instructions on how to do that. Lets see.........the cable modem drive should be easy to install, I have the CD for that here. Now..........the email programs Incredimail and Outlook express came with the internet package that we purchased 3 years ago. My question is, is how do I take the Incredimail program and the Outlook express program from the old drive(which is what I am using right now) and move it to the new drive that I am putting in Friday? You see these email programs have all the addresses and old emails and all that stuff and I want to put it on my new hard drive. How does one go about doing this? I know I'll have to copy them to a CD (D: drive) and then install them to my newer hard drive. Any instructions on how to do this? I would appreciate the help and I do appreciate the help Ive gotten lately!!! This forum rocks!!!!! Keep up the good work!!

Love my life!!
