I have Windows 98 and got a new computer for my birthday. Good timing, as something happened on my old computer and the display is really messed up (the colors are as they are in safe mode, but the computer isn't in safe mode); Mozilla also crashes if I have more than two tabs open. I have some programs on this old computer that I don't want to lose (such as PSP9 that I no longer have the hardware for). How do I save them and put them on my new computer?

Typically programs need to be reinstalled rather than copied. It's typically not the hardware you need for installing programs but the software.

You can copy any data from the old drive to the new

yes, like most programs, that would need to be reinstalled from the source files. You just can't copy files around. For example, too much is written to the registry.

What I generally recommend people doing is creating something like a C:\Install directory on their hard drive. All programs (or at least major ones) are copied to their own directory below that (c:\install\office2007 c:\install\psp9 etc.). Then you don't have to worry about losing the CD quite so much. You can also keep any product ID's on text files in their respective directories as well.
