Have 3 PCs:
1. HP dv6000 notebook w/XP Media Center Edition w/a named user1.
2. Infinity MP5000 w/Win 98SE w/ a null user, named user1, named user2.
3. HP 8565C w/Win 98SE w/ a null user, named user1, named user2.

I have set up drive C on all 3 systems as sharable.

On the XP system 1, I can see drive C from computer 2 but not drive C from computer 3.
On 98SE system 2, I can NOT see drive C from either system 1 or 3.
On 98SE system 3, I can NOT see drive C from either system 1 or 2.

Tried logging on to each system as user1 to no avail.

What do I have to do to make drive C on all systems available to each system?

It looks like the XP is OK and the problem is with the W98. Again, just to make sure:

On W98SE, Control Panel, Network. Then set access control and in Identity give the machine a unique name. Then click on TCP/IP of the network card, properties, set automatic network address. For Internet access, set gateway to your router, usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, check in your router papers. DNS-server: set to your IP provider. Do not care about the Intel21014, if you see that. Reboot.

Try browsing the internet; if that works, your have network access from that machine.
I noticed that W98 with some network cards likes to have an autoaddress and with others a fixed address, like 192.168.0.2 (or 192.168.1.2). With fixed addresses every machine must have a different one in the last digit, of course. The secondary is 255.255.255.0, always. I also noticed that some routers are not completely transparent for the local network.

If all machines can get to the internet, then try again Net Neigh. If that still not works, try uninstalling the network card, reboot and installing it again with the appropriate settings. That helped with me several times, but I have not the faintest idea why.

If then it still not works, I am out of my depth. Maybe then you should post the question again in the networking forum; there for sure is someone who knows more than I do.

Two things that you maybe tried already, but just for making sure:

- Map Network Drive in My computer

- In Network, Entire Network etc.

In both cases the machine xshould find the other ones. Question: how did you enable sharing on the machines? Do you have a router? If yes, do you get your machine addresses via DHCP or are they fixed?

W98 can sometimes be cranky in networking.
