I was recently given a Packard Bell computer for my granddaughter from a friend. The OS is Windows 98 and my granddaughter can't visit any secure websites. Our ISP is currently Bellsouth. We did not have this problem when we had Netzero dial up and I was wondering if there was anyone out there that could help an old woman who is a beginner to computer use with this problem?

Thanks

Well Bradly just call me a dumb blonde cause when I went in to run, typed in command, typed in c:\windows\system folder it told me it was a bad command so I went to the link that you gave me to download efix and after downloading the vb6 I tried to down load the efix and it told me windows can't find znap.exe needed to open the zip file. I know that you getting frustrated with me but I really appreciate your help.

thanks

Bradly, I tried running each of the above lines that you sent me from the link but I can't get them to run. Whenever I enter the regsvr32 line it either does nothing or tells me it is a bad command. I know you must think I am really stupid but maybe I am not doing something right. Thanks for all that you are trying to do for me. Hopefully we can come up with something.

Well Bradly, you have been very patient with this old bird but I am beginning to think that there is no hope for this computer. I entered all of the regsvr32 files in system folder, that didn't work so I downloaded winzip 8 from the link that you sent me and it still doesn't work. I even restarted the computer and I still can't get to any secure web sites. If I had the IE cd I would unstall IE and reinstall but unfortunately I don't have that cd. Is there anything else I can try before I shoot myself? lol
Again thanks for all your patience and expertise.

Bradly, You are a genius, it finally worked. If you were here I would give you a big hug. I truly appreciate your patience and apologize for monopolizing your time this way. I'm sure that you have better things you could be doing but I really am thankful for people like you out there. It really gives you back your faith knowing that there are people like you out there. One other question, do I still have some kind of virus protection on my pc? Thanks again and I hope you have a blessed day.

Well Bradly, I'm sure that you are running out of ideas to help me with the problem I am having with accessing secure websites. It seems that nothing you have suggested is working with my computer. If there is something else you can think of for me to try that would be great, otherwise I might just have to take it out into the backyard and take a sledge hammer to it, lol. It's really strange that when I had Netzero I had no problem with accessing a secure web site and then when I switched over to BellSouth Fast Access DSL I started having this problem. I have tried several times to get some help with my problem from BellSouth but they seem to think that I have a firewall that won't allow me to access these sites even though I have them listed as trusted sites like I did with Netzero. Well if there is something else I would sure appreciate you sharing it with me. Again thanks for all your effort and patience.

To tell you the truth Bradly the only thing I see is an icon for Iris Antivirus. I believe it might have come with Norton but when I click on the icon it says cannot display page. Is there any help for me? Thanks
