Hi guys.
I'm trying to install a new harddrive in a customer's machine (Sony VAIO PCV-RX470DS). The harddrive that died was a 60GB and we are trying to replace it with his 160GB Maxtor drive. The BIOS and fdisk only see the drive as ~8GB drive.
I vaguely remember that this happened quite a bit when a BIOS doesn't support over a certain size harddrive. I think this may be my problem, but I also vaguely recall a fix for that using Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools.
I'm just wondering if this is a hardware limitation or if there is something I can do to make the HDD detect. So far, we've tried all the normal routes (fdisk, format, etc).
I have scoured Sony's support documentation without finding much with a list of specific limitations to upgrades.
Any help you can provide on this specific issues would be great, as I'm at a loss.
Thanks, Mike
