Hi!
I am new at this an I have had this problem for a while now. I lived in a house where there was an existing wireless internet connection and my computer found it and connected automatically. When I moved into my own house I bought a wireless internet modem and router. The router wanted us to connect the computer to the wired modem first to set it up and my computer never found it. I can't connect to any internet (wired or wireless) to this day. I have tried so much that I fear I may have changed some vital information that I don't know how to change back. When I check the connection it shows that there are like 50,000 some odd packages sent and 0 received. So, it is recognizing that there is a network but it won't connect to it. I don't know what to do.
Please help!!!!

the modem and router are working fine with other computers in the house. It is apparently my IP address. You responded to my other post, so I'll continue posting there. Thanks!!

can you provide a little more detail

Make and model of router - what type of connection
ADSL DSL cable connection.

how its all connected - give a list - LAN or ISB

so we can get a picture of the setup

there could be a few things to check - lights on the router / lights on the modem
post that info back

did you set up the username and password - if needed - in the router

the router will have a factory reset on it - so you can put everthing back to how you purchased it .

focus on getting the cable setup working first
then move onto wireless
