For the past few weeks the netflix site has not been working right. It had been working fine but then IE seemed to have trouble loading any page of the site. The problem went away for a little while but now for over a week the site is not loading right. From the opening page most of the images won't load, either they don't load at all or I just get the red X's, but I can log in, but once I do there is a 2-4 minute delay to be logged in, and then no matter what I try to click on, the queue page or another section, the IE window will either start loading the next page, but it will take 2-5 minutes and when its done images will be missing, or the window will freeze to being completely red like the netflix background and after 2-5 minutes the page will load, also with images missing.

I don't have this problem with any other site. I have broadband so speed couldn't be the issue, and it was working before. It sometimes all of a sudden starts working fine. After delayed loading times, I will try to go to another page, and that will work fine and load quickly, it may work perfectly for a few links, but then it will freeze up again or take as much as 5 minutes to load the next page. I have tried using a different browser, clearing cookies, temporary internet files, and the windows temp folder, and the problem still occurs. Netflix customer service could only tell me problems they knew of with AOL and Macintosh, neither of which I use, and to do the basic file clearing I have already done. The one time the site has worked fine from the starting page happened yesterday, when I clicked on a link that went to http://www.netflix.com/Default? from an email they sent me if that means anything.

I tried only using that address, favoriting that page, and clicking that same link after it worked that one time but it no longer worked. I have checked the hosts file, disabled all add-ons, and nothing has had any effect. I don't know what changed that caused this one site to work so strangely. I have Windows XP SP2 and have Mcafee and windows firewalls enabled, as well as google toolbar, and I had all these things running before when the site worked fine. I have also tried making netflix a trusted site and that also had no effect. Since it occassionally works fine there must be some setting or something interferring that is causing it to not work most of the time, any ideas?

Alright, so I'm having the same issue and I can with 99.9% accuracy say that it is NOT any of my hardware causing the issue, nor my software.

I've tried everything from ALL available browsers to chaging hard drives, NICs, modems, etc.  nothing works.  I've unplugged my ADSL modem, my router, my computer...still nothing.  I've formatted, yes FORMATTED both of my hard drives, loaded from scratch and still no netflix pictures or break.com

With all of that aside, I've also used my Nintendo Wii's opera browser and it too does not display Netflix's pictures.  I've plugged in another laptop running IE7 on XP SP2 and it cannot access them either.

The ONLY thing that has worked on my LAN drop has been a friend's laptop that was running a pre-installed Vista setup.  Netflix and Break both loaded fast and perfectly.

I don't run off of Comcast, unlike most of the other people I've found having this problem...so this tells me it's either something wrong with the ISP or with Netflix.

Oh, and if you want details, here are some other things I tried:
(in addition to trying IE6, IE7, Opera, Wii's Opera, and Firefox)

I've cleared all of my Temp Internet files, my cookies, did a DNS flush, set my security to Low, and reset to IE defaults.  I've also added *.nflximg.com to my Trusted Sites, and tried everything outlined in this MS Support link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283807 still nothing.

For me, here's the weird thing (aside from all of the other crap I tried): Everyone I know running through the same ISP can get to the pages fine and everything loads.  If I bring their computer to my house and log into the ADSL service using their computer, it doesn't load break.com or the netflix pictures.  It's not my modem, it's not my NIC, it's not my computer...there's something wrong in between my phone jack, the ISP, and netflix.

Like I said before, even my Nintendo Wii can't get the pages to load....with or without my router.

I don't know why this site's posts keep shuffling around and change the post dates all the time, but my personal solution was found at my ISP's side.  Apparantly, there was an issue with their DNS server and a Microsoft patch.  The solution was to get their DNS servers' IP addresses and input them into the TCP/IP properties configuration instead of letting it auto-configure.  Since then, I've had no problems.

Which "other" browser did you try?

Maybe try clearing your cache manually, I would guess there is some sort of activeX type app running - try double checking all your settings under Tools/Internet options.

You can try calling them multiple times to see if you can get a better support person.

I hadn't tried using Firefox before. The pages load at normal speed using it, but most of the images are still missing. Specifically the images of the covers of the movies all load, but the star ratings, buttons, and tabs at the top do not load. I can ping netflix.com fine, but there seems to be a problem getting information from cdn-0.nflximg.com. In the lower left it kept trying to load from this address but like IE it would never load the images. I get 100% loss when trying to ping that address. Any idea why IE won't load the pages right, and those specific images won't load in either?

maybe post a tracert here and maybe you are hitting them through a bad router or ISP cache or something - that is very strange indeed.
