I am trying to get a business up and running with file sharing and I am running into some issues. There are 5 Vista PC's and 2 XP and one networked copier/printer. I wasn't here for the initial setup, so I don't have some details. I know the internet connection is DSL and runs through a ActionTec DSL router with wireless, with a 8 port switch connected to it. I believe the internet connection is shared, which I find odd considering the router. The router provides DHCP addresses. I have renamed all the PC's to the same Workgroup, and created unique PC names for each system and created all the user accounts with passwords on all of the systems. I am not able to ping anything besides the router, the copier/printer and one of the XP PC's from all of the systems. The one XP system that pings is the where the main share will reside. The sharing works on all the computers, but only using the systems IP and not the system name. I have turned off all the firewalls on all the systems. I am able to see all of the Vista systems in the network browser, but can not ping any of them. I am also unable to reach a shared drive from the other XP system to one of the Vista systems. I was told that the previous tech had to establish some sort of point to point connection to get the printer to work. They would like to be able to share files between all of the systems. Any ideas on why the systems will not see each other?
