I installed the Windows Vista Home Basic upgrade to my XP Home SP2 desktop and the cable modem connection to the internet is not detected by the Vista installation. I have a Linksys wireless router which still connects my laptop to the internet just fine. I have looked at all of the diagnostics on Vista and reset NIC and Bridge network cards and this hasn't fixed the problem. I have also down powered the router, modem and computer a couple of times to reset, but this hasn't worked either. I am at work right now, so I can't give you the exact configurations of the desktop, but if anyone has already solved this problem and can help in the interim, all would be fine. Thanks in advance.

Solved by calling MS (1st 90 days of service is free of charge) and spending about 4 hours on the phone with them. Not so good, but it was effective.

I have the same problem but if i wait for like 20 minutes vista finally finds the connection but its still annoying as hell :S How did you do to solve it then?
