i recently updated to winows vista ultimate on my laptop, because i got a 50% discount with my company.

i have an acer 60gb laptop
1gb ram

when installing it told me to go back and format my hard drive th ntfs as it was in FAT so i formated my d: drive to ntfs and forgot to format to c: drive . but it let me install vista on my d: drive so all went good.

but once i have changed to vista i deleted all files from my c: drive and tried to format it to NTFS as it was still in FAT mode, the reason why i wanted to format it to ntfs is because bitlocker only worked when both my drives were in NTFS

but when i try to format it by right clicking on the c: drive then format all goes well until i click format it instantly says " windows was unable to complete the format"

please help

Try formatting it in Disk Manager. Right click My Computer, choose "manage", then Disk Management.

I would backup your data and reinstall. When you install remove all partitions and reformat. Then install in the c directory.

You are going to have issues if you keep your root directory as d:\ some installer (like HP drivers and software) look for the c:\windows and suck when extracting and doing other things.
