I have a huge problem. I purchased a new computer and hooked it up this weekend, it has Vista Premium and is a HP. Previously had win 98se. I work for a company from home that I mainly take calls and enter them into a software application. I log onto the software with a password. The software is Seibal CRM on Demand by Oracle. Pryer to getting the computer I spoke with someone at Oracle and was told Vista was not yet supported by them but they had some with it that she did not think had any problems. Well wrong.
When I went on the software today part of it works and not the other part (the tools part with the phone which I belive is called CRM call center on demand. Anyway it keeps showing a error message. I could not work today and have talked to everyone with the exception of B Gates. Oracle and employer says nothing they can do. HP says no help. Microsoft says yes I can get xp and call back and they will then transfer me to tect support and walk me through install, that you can have 2 operating systems something about Virtual whatever. Office Depot where I got the new computer says yes but you have to
re do the hard drive. Talked to someone who said Microsoft's Virtual whatever does not work well. Don't want to lug this computer back and office depot says they have no computers with XP anyway and don't want to pay $200 for xp and probably then fight to make it work with both. Do know the software is compatible with Xp as daughter has xp though her's is now broke.

ANY SUGGESTIONS as need to work tomorrow?????

Try right clicking the shortcut, choose properties, and choose run in compatibility mode for XP SP2, and check run as administrator.

Yes but keep in mind I am working on it right now with Windows 98se and no problems.
They are saying now as far as they no they are compatable.
It is a home webpage and on part of that page their is a tools bar that mostly controls
things like telephone transfers, it is called communication tools. The other part of the page are tabs and customer information which works fine on VIsta.
I do know some months ago when I had a pop up blocker on 98 it caused problem so I had to type in their site to allow pop up's and avoid any problems. That is why I ask about the security settings in Vista, though I have already un did the pop up blocker.

Doesn't sound like that is what Downtime meant.

But I do not have anything uploaded from the work except I do have a shortcut icon on my desktop that takes me to the website. I also do not have xp, I have Vista.
If I right click on that icon (work) then properties, all I get is a general and web document tab.

If you right click on IE it does have tabs for shortcut and compatibility.

Would like to hear what he meant.

It certainly sounds like it's not supported or compatible with Vista. Whether or not there's a setting in Internet Explorer that's preventing the use of the application depends on the application. If the company that created the app and support it can't help you, then there's not much else to do. You could try describing what exactly happens when you try to use the app. What error messages do you get? What appears on the screen?

Downtime:

Not sure what you meant about the above. What is shortcut? I did right click on Internet Exp and then properties and their is are shortcut and compatibility tabs. I selected the compatibility tab but everything else is grayed out. Can't select run this program in
compatibility mode, says compatibility modes cannot be set on this program because it is part of this version of Windows.

Am I at the right place that you were referring to for shortcut and properties. As also if I
cllick on the destop it just takes me to personalize (which use to be properties).

I have since hooked my old 98 up and am working on it but would really like to get this
to be able to work on it. So if you can further explain I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply's.

I have just learned that the site is supposedly compatible with VISTA. I was first told that
it was but not supported then I was told no and was not certified. But a place on their site
says it is compatible just not certified (whatever that means).
I was originally given a link to the site to which I sign on with a ID and password and then made a shortcut to it on my desktop. It is under the group name for the company that I work for.
The odd thing is that for the last year I have used windows 98se and it has worked fine and am now since I had to re-hook my old computer back up so I could work on it.
I have also been on it with my daughters laptop which is xppro and it works fine.
So I now think it something with the VISTA settings (part of the site works the other doesn't).
One thing is the other day when I hooked up new computer (VISTA PREMIUM) I without realizing activated Nortons firewall, I have since changed that back to Windows firewall but have not been able to re hook up new computer to check it out since I only can have one connected to dls and need the 98 to work on. Was busy last night. I also un did the pop up blocker.
Would the security settings on Vista or any other settings cause this?

Well they have not said that it won't work on Windows Vista IE. I also realize the other
posts don't apply IF the software is compatible.

My last questions was could some of Vista setting be causing the problem?

So it's browser based? That is, it's online, nothing is installed on the computer? You use Internet Explorer to access the software? If so, give Firefox a try. They have been working with Oracle on other applications.
