About a week ago, I performed a full-system scan with Norton AV 2007 (I have Windows Vista), and it said I had hacktool.pwdump but that it could not remove it. I started to follow the steps listed at http://www.symantec.com/security_res...025-99&tabid=3
(disable system restore, update virus definitions, run full system scan and delete values added to registry). In the middle of this process, during another full scan, the virus was no longer detected. I ran several additional full-system scans for the next few days, and it was detected again. I am pretty sure I found and deleted the file associated with it, but this is the log associated with my HijackThis scan (note that I also received an error report performing a HijackThis scan: "For some reason your system denied write access to the hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may not be able to fix this. If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this click start, run and type: notepad "C:\\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" and press enter. Find the line(s) HijackThis reports and delete them. save the file as "hosts." (with quotes), and reboot"
