I'm posting here because I suspect I have something attached to my smpt 25 port that is preventing me from sending mail. I'm not really up to speed on how to see what is active on a specific port (if someone knows how to do this, that would be helpful), but in the past few days, it appears that this port is a pretty popular place for trojans.

I'm using Outook 2000. I can receive mail fine. When I try to send mail, I get a server rejection error msg. They vary in specifics, but they all say it is a server problem. I've talked to my cable provider (Charter Communications) and they tell me they do not support Outlook as an email client- which totally blows my mind. I've been using them for over 10 years and sending email without incident until recently (3 months).

I run antivirus, spyware, malware, reg cleaner firewall etc on an on going or regular basis, for the most part it comes up clean except for info cookies. I've gone to GMail so I can get stuff out, but I really would like to get back to a resident package (I'm not in love with Outlook, but I have a HUGE archive of emails to convert). If someone has a good solid alternative I'd be interested in taking a look.
