Reinstall Windows Movie Maker (Microsoft Windows XP->System issue)
We can use the steps below to reinstall Windows Movie Maker.

Note: If Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) is not installed on the computer, we can perform the steps below in Method 1. If SP2 is installed, please go to Method 2 directly.

Method 1: For computers not installed with SP2
=================
1. Click "Start" and select "Run".
2. Type "command" (without the quotation marks) in the Open box and click OK.
3. In the MS-DOS prompt window, type the following command exactly, please do not add a space and press Enter:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132
c:\windows\inf\moviemk.inf

Note: I assume the moviemk.inf file is stored in the c:\windows\inf folder. The command is case sensitive.

4. After the re-installation, please restart the computer and check if Windows Movie Maker is installed.

In addition, you may right-click the moviemk.inf file and select Install to reinstall Windows Movie Maker in Windows XP.

Method 2: For computers installed with SP2
================
1. Click "Start" and choose "Run". Type "inf" in the open box and click OK.
2. Click "Tools" in the menu bar and choose "Folder Options".
3. Click "View" tab. Drag the scroll bar to find "Hide extensions for known file types" and click to uncheck it.
4. Click "Apply" to save the setting and click OK.
5. Locate "moviemk.inf". Right click it and choose Install.
6. If the installation process asks for the installation CD, please direct the path to C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386.
